I have been dealing with writing in the human resources space in one way or another for about ten years now.

In these ten years, many things that discouraged me from writing happened – better said, I looked for excuses and distractions not to write. I started taking photos and joined the increase in your following game on Instagram; I tried to be active on Twitter, and I had a vlog and a podcast at some point. While these activities were great, I got the most energy from writing consistently on my previous blog. Those few weeks of writing an article regularly were very rewarding. It was just the COVID period where nothing was exciting since we were on lockdown.

I lost interest in creating content on any other platform, but the itch to write was always there. One of my favorite writers online is Paul Jarvis. For 8 years, he put together a weekly piece for his mailing list called Sunday Dispatch. I’ve wanted to follow his way of working and have a weekly blog and newsletter, but I didn’t have the discipline to commit to this.

Long story long, here I am after so many years, still wanting to put something in the world. I have brainstormed several ideas, and I think now I’m on to something:

Curious Perspective

This is a weekly newsletter in which I share some of the most interesting links I stumbled upon in the previous seven days. I spend 1-2 hours per day reading Hacker News and Reddit, so these are my sources of great content. I gather 25+ links weekly and share them with those who subscribe. This content is not the usual HR content; it’s more for HR geeks who want to expand their horizons. I will write more extensively on Hacker News and Reddit in separate articles.

Blog

While the newsletter is something that I can commit to a weekly issue since I already read it and the effort of putting it together is not that big, the writing is a different beast. And I want to fight this beast. Just not every week. I have a vast list of topics I want to write about, from how startups can change the world of working to bullshit jobs or AI in HR. The place to put all these ideas in writing is this blog/site. I will include links to my writing in the newsletter, so there is no need for a separate mailing list.
